Choosing a Contractor
Criteria To Consider When Choosing Your Builder / Contractor
01
#1 REPUTATION
Look for a well-established builder with an extensive list of clients; he/she should be willing to share all.
Our list of clients dates back to 1975; we encourage you to contact any or all.
02
#2 FINANCIAL STABILITY AND STRENGTH-
Make sure the builder you choose is financially viable. A financially-strong builder is in the best position to contract with quality suppliers and subcontractors. Beware of a builder who requires large down payments or advances for work not performed or products not purchased. Be sure to ask for and check the builder’s bank and supplier references.
Cut No Slak has excellent, long-term references from our financial institution, suppliers and subcontractors.
03
#3 STABILITY AND RELIABILITY-
How long has the builder been in the contracting/building business? Does it operate from and meet with clients in a well-equipped facility? Cut No Slak owns and operates from a large office, shop and warehouse facility. Our clients enjoy the convenience of making selections and viewing products without leaving town.
04
#4 AREA OF OPERATIONS-
Is the builder you are considering familiar with the area in which you plan to build? Local knowledge is vital. An out-of-area builder will most likely not be prepared to handle variations in the code, subcontracting practices, or inclement weather patterns.
Cut No Slak has been constructing homes and small commercial structures since 1975 in the Chaffee County area. As founding members of the Chaffee County Home Builders Association and members of the state and national associations, we stay up to date on all new code and building issues and techniques.
05
#5 DESIGN / TYPE OF STRUCTURE-
Choose a builder who has extensive experience constructing a home in your price range and general design. If your design and/or structure is unique, be sure your contractor has successful experience with one-of-a-kind projects.
Cut No Slak has experience with a wide range of structures, both residential and commercial. Please see our Project Portfolio. Our broad experience allows us to offer a stipulated sum contract on most projects.
06
#6 COMPATIBILITY-
Building a home is a highly personal and emotional experience. Select a builder you feel comfortable with. Don’t ignore any negative feelings, if they arise.
Cut No Slak has perfected the ability to communicate well with our clients. Most of our projects are executed while the client is living out of the area. We take much pride in our ability to keep our clients close to their project.
07
#7 WARRANTY-
Your builder should have a reputation for performing all warranty work cheerfully and in a timely manner.
Maintenance of our reputation requires that we not only welcome-but expect-our clients to call us with any problems or concerns for as long as they own their homes.
